Echoes and Songs

In Echoes and Songs, Australian composer John Pax weaves together musical fragments of his works into a single performance. These fragments arise and fall away over a dark backdrop and play with the concepts of time and space. Electronics, lighting and live performers join to weave this complex tapestry.

Born in Perth, John started his studies at UWA, and is now nearing the end of his PhD in composition at Harvard University. In 2020, his piece Where the Quiet Rests was shortlisted for Work of the Year - Chamber in the Australian Art Music Awards.

Performed by some of Perth's finest musicians, this is a rare invitation into an interior world which is dark, vulnerable and gripping.
