EXHUMED celluloid cinema
Exhumed Cinema at Liberty Theatre is a curated festival of thirty-five cult and classic films programmed in 35mm & 16mm film, at Perth City’s original 1950s arthouse cinema.
Presented by Strange Festival 2023, the 13-day ticketed pop-up revival cinema will transport cinephiles on a thrilling journey through time with a collection of iconic, ground-breaking, and memorable films that have shaped the cinematic landscape.
This nostalgic trip down memory lane allows a new generation to enjoy films that have transcended time in all their celluloid glory, and the renaissance of a CBD landmark.
Evoking the magic of the 80’s vintage cinema are classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show in its 50th Anniversary year, Mad Max: The Road Warrior, The Goonies, Pulp Fiction, Bad Boy Bubby (30th Anniversary screening) and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith. Screenings take place nightly, alongside a Night of Ozploitation Q&A special event on June 24.
The Liberty at 81 Barrack St will be home to installations as part of Stange festival, and activated with live performance.
