Facing Monsters Screening + Ocean Heroes Fundraiser
Over the last 12 months the team at Ocean Heroes have been able to take their surf experiences to all corners of WA from Albany, Denmark and Esperance in the south, Geraldton in the Midwest, Broome in the far north also reaching Sydney in the eastern states. Ocean Heroes continues to go from strength to strength and a big part of being able to take their show on the road was a custom-built surfboard trailer delivered in early 2022.
A big part of this was the $17K raised at last year’s Ocean Heroes Movie Night fundraiser, and they’re looking to build on this again with the support of the Macquarie Foundation hosting another movie night on Tuesday 18th, October, at Luna Palace Leederville. Showcasing the action-packed dramatic movie titled Facing Monsters. A surfing movie that digs deep into the psyche of enigmatic West Australia ‘slab wave’ surfer Kerby Brown, a man whose connection with the ocean runs as deep as his love for his family.
All proceeds from the night will go towards assisting the work that Ocean Heroes and Connected By do in the community. Ocean Heroes aims to improve the well-being of those living with Autism and their families through surfing. Connected By provides a creative space for learning, sharing, and growing for current and ex-Australian Defence Force personnel, first responders and the general public.
Tickets are $19.95 and can be reserved now, and you will have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes throughout the night. Doors open at 6:00pm, with the movie commencing at 6:30pm.
