First Lights: Boodja Dwordak Wirn
A spectacle of light, sound and illumination will take flight across Esperance’s night sky this May.
Across the white sand beaches and ancient granite domes of the Esperance foreshore, First Lights: Boodja Dwordak Wirnwill reveal ancient stories of deep connections and knowledge of sea country.
The large-scale contemporary art form will choreograph a fleet of nearly 200 drones with powerful LED lights and specialist 3D animation techniques.
A cinematic soundscape by award-winning composer Maatakitji – Clint Bracknell will accompany the drone show to create an immersive light and sound performance, which is free and accessible for all.
Commissioned by the Fremantle Biennale, following the success of its First Lights: Moombaki (2021) and co-presented by the Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation.
