Swing and sway your way through October as Yagan Square Amphitheatre transforms into a sensational jazz haven every Friday in October for the free Jazz in the Square series!
The heart of Perth will come alive with Perth’s top jazz vocalists, musicians, dancers, and performers each week for a diverse range of unforgettable open-air music events. On Friday October 13, WAYJO Presents ‘Jazz Through the Ages’! The WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO) St John of God Healthcare Tuesday Night Orchestra is set to serenade the crowd with the timeless tunes of big band jazz. From classic swingers to modern hits, Music Director Marty Pervan has curated a program that promises to dazzle. Celebrating 40 years of nurturing young talent aged 14-25, WAYJO’s exceptional musicianship will leave the audience in awe.
Suitable for the whole family, on offer will be free children’s activities including face painting and giant bubbles provided by the Freedom Fairies and a variety of food offerings and soft drinks will be available for purchase. BYO picnics (but no alcohol please). Grab a cushion or rug to claim your spot to soak up the sounds of spring with swing in Perth city. No bookings/tickets are required, and the show runs for approximately two hours with breaks.
