The Kent St Riverside Stompers originated from a group of musicians who meet for coffee at the Kent St Café.They wanted to use the bass sax as the bass instrument - a style promoted by the great Bix Beiderbeck Band in the late 1920’s.The bass saxophone they use is one hundred years old – made in 1923 (and the player is only slightly younger!)
