Mundaring Hills Open Studios
Mundaring Hills Open Studios is back, bigger and brighter than ever in 2023.
The annual showcase of creativity in Perth’s eastern hills region runs over nine days, from 21 to 29 October, with 65 artists taking part across 37 studios from Bellevue and Swan View in the foothills to Chidlow and Sawyers Valley in the east.
The open studios event is a once-a-year opportunity to meet our artists in their workspaces and discover where the magic happens. It is always a drawcard for Perth art lovers and those who simply enjoy a day out in the Hills, taking in the art trail while enjoying the natural beauty of the region which is at its best in spring.
The format is designed for people to plan their own day out, either picking a couple of favourite artists to visit for a casual weekend wander, or to map out a detailed itinerary and to cram in as many studios as possible across the Hills.
Mundaring Hills Open Studios is now in its 15th year and is expanding in size and diversity each year. The event started in 2009 with just 10 founding artists, led by painter and ceramic artist Joel Smoker and potter Greg Crowe, but it has grown to embrace a diversity of styles of art and artists – from painting, drawing and printmaking to ceramics, glass art, metal and woodwork, and much more.
