The Perth Hills will again be transformed into an exciting art trail this October in a celebration of the creativity of this vibrant region on the city’s doorstep. The Mundaring Hills Open Studios, now in its 14th year, offers insights into the artistic practices of more than 60 artists who live and work amid the inspiring environment of natural bush and waterways. The Mundaring Hills Open Studios started in 2009 with just 10 founding artists, but it has grown to embrace a wide diversity of styles of art and artists – from painting, drawing and printmaking to ceramics, glass art, metal and woodwork, and much more – from 61 artists in 33 studios across the region, from Swan View to Chidlow. It is a chance to see artists at work in their own environment and buy quality original artwork direct from the maker. The event runs over nine days from Saturday October 22 to Sunday October 30, although opening days will vary between studios. See the website mundaring-hills-open-studios.org.au for full details or pick up this year’s brochure at venues across the Hills and beyond.
