Ocean Heroes ‘Girls Can’t Surf’ Film Fundraiser
Ocean Heroes are a locally-run organisation that operate free events and one-on-one surfing lessons for people on the autism spectrum – offering everyone the chance to experience the thrill of riding a wave, the positive and calming effects of the ocean, and giving families the opportunity to connect with community. To raise funds to provide boards, life jackets, sunscreen and other equipment for their 2021/2022 season, Ocean Heroes are hosting a film fundraiser, screening the excellent Girls Can’t Surf (watch the trailer HERE), the untold story of how a band of renegade surfer girls in the 1980s fought to create their own professional sport, changing surf culture forever.
Win big in raffles on the evening, and catch an interview with ex-world champion Australian surfer Layne Beachley. This will be a family friendly event. The Macquarie Group Foundation will match donations to this event under its non-profit support policy – tickets $19.95 (proceeds to Ocean Heroes).
