Pop-Up Store at Slow-making Locally by Annette Nykiel
A pop-up market will be held as part of Annette Nykiel's 'Slow-making Locally exhibition' on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July from 10am to 4pm in the Multifunction Room at the Rockingham Arts Centre.
Annette Nykiel’s Slow-making Locally exhibition consists of fibre and repurposed textile works which have been stitched, woven, dyed or printed with local plant materials. The exhibition has a strong focus on colours that have been produced from green waste. There is a long history of plant dyeing, botanical printing and basketry that is currently experiencing a revival. These traditional practices of dyeing, printing and basketry are informed by the continuing research into the properties of Western Australian plant species, both native and introduced.
