MORE INFO

The RFDS Spirit of the Landscape art exhibition honours the vast landscapes of rural, remote and regional Australia and the important work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. This exhibition is a partnership between the Plein Air Down Under outdoor painting festival and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Region), where the artwork of 28 Australian artists illustrates the RFDS story and its work across Australia. Artists invited to exhibit include renowned Australian plein air artists Warwick Fuller, Leon Holmes, Brendon Darby and US Artist Tiffanie Mang.

Plein air artists have a profound respect for the land, the natural environment and the stories of community that emerge from the landscape. They tell those stories through their paintings, portraying a moment in real time by capturing the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, colour and movement.

Exhibition Opening: Saturday 10 September 2022, at 2.30 pm (following the World Wide Paint Out in Mandjar Square). Everyone welcome.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service has been saving lives in rural and remote Australia for more than 90 years and has grown to be the world’s largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation, helping over 1000 people every day by providing emergency medical and primary health care services to anyone who lives, works or travels in rural and remote Australia.

With a waiting room of 7.69 million square kilometres, the RFDS provides 24-hour aeromedical emergency services that can reach anywhere, no matter how remote, within hours. Combined with telehealth consultations, fly-in fly-out GP and Nurse clinics, mobile dental services, patient transfers, and a myriad of other health services, the RFDS is constantly working to see that those living in rural and remote areas can enjoy the same health outcomes as those living in city areas.

In Western Australia, the RFDS operates in the world’s largest health jurisdiction with its harsh landscapes, far from ideal conditions that necessitate resilience, resourcefulness, innovation and a continual striving for excellence.
