Shadow Puppet Opera

Join Curate for its first-ever shadow puppet opera! This Mandurah Arts Festival 2022, Curate will perform Claudio Monteverdi’s short opera ‘Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda’, which is the story of a knight named Tancredi and a lady named Clorinda. They are lovers but also knights. So when they meet unexpectedly in battle, they do not recognise each other as they are wearing their armour. Of course, they do as knights do and battle… to someone’s death!

Find out what happens through the wonders of shadow puppetry by Koori artist Vicki Warn, with live musical performance by Curate’s ensemble, Runs with Wolfgang. Once the initial performance finishes, audience members are invited to explore their creativity and make their own shadow puppet as a CURATE memento. This show is perfect for all ages, so come on out and join the fun!
