Songs for Freedom 2024
Songs for Freedom is returning to the shores of Dyoondalup Point Walter for an unforgettable evening of music, story, song and art presented by Big hART and the City of Melville.
Showcasing some of the highlights and favourites from more than a decade’s worth of songs created in the town of Ieramugadu (Roebourne) by Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, and visiting artists, this year’s concert marks the end of an incredible 14-year project, with Songs for Freedom drawing to a close to make way for new initiatives in Ieramugadu and beyond.
Under the musical direction of Grammy award winner Lucky Oceans, and with powerful narration by Ngarluma man, Patrick Churnside, the concert will feature an impressive lineup of returning artists including Kutcha Edwards, Kankawa Nagarra, Naomi Pigram, Tehya Makani, John Bennett, Angus Smith, Jay Jerome, David Hyams, Razzy Mak and Sabine Bester.
This free event offers a rare opportunity to connect with the timeless songs and stories of an ancient culture, alongside inspiring material from the next generation, making this final concert a particularly special one not to be missed.
