STUFF!

Behind every collection or pile of Stuff! is a collector moved by the secrets or human stories which accompany each object.

In the exhibition Stuff!, we asked State Library staff – librarians, behind the scenes administrators or seasoned historians – to select items from our collection which resonated strongly with them. The result is a deeply personal and surprising scrapbook of WA history.

Family histories, beer-splattered rock posters, Walmajarri language children’s books, and centuries-old French maps all sit side by side in a celebration of the Stuff! that gives State Library staff a kick. In the video below, hear what the people responsible for finding, preserving, collating and sharing your stories have to say about what makes the State Library of Western Australia worth a visit over and over again.
