The Big Tchéga Show – Créole Folk & Roots
The Big Tchéga Show – Creole Folk & Roots
Join us for a tropical afternoon of music inspired by the Indian Ocean islands, featuring the vibrant and catchy sounds of Tchéga. This happy concert will showcase the music of singer-songwriter Carole Katz, accompanied by her stellar musicians: Nathan Joseph on bass, Tao Mott on percussion and Ridge Moss on guitar. Tchéga will transport you to the shores of the Indian Ocean islands, where the heritage and traditions of Creole folk music come alive.
Not sure what to expect? We can’t give too much away but you’re in for some soulful harmonies, captivating beats, island boogie and all-round good time. We’ll share some original music but we also love to give some classics a tropical spin! Join us for the perfect winter warmer at an exquisite live music venue! This show is for the culturally curious, proud islanders and neighbours, roots and world music lovers and our supportive friends and family.
Tchega will launch its debut record and we are looking forward to celebrating with you all! If you can’t make it, you can still support us with the ticket “I’ll be there in spirit”.
Creole music: “Creole from the Indian Ocean islands” refers to the unique cultures, languages, and communities that have developed in the Indian Ocean region, particularly on islands such as Mauritius, Réunion and Seychelles. These Creole cultures are a blend of various ethnic, linguistic, and cultural influences, including African, European (primarily French), Indian and Asian. With Tchega, you will experience a bit of sega, seggae, maloya, Afro-pop, soulful folk and island music with our own Tchega twist!

Acknowledgment of Country: Tchéga would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the spiritual and cultural custodians of this land where we grow, play and connect. As migrants, we are grateful for our home away from home and for the opportunities we have been given. We love learning about the stories of the People of this land. This land is and always will be Aboriginal land.
Thank you for supporting locally made music!
