Weekends at PICA

On Saturday 10 February, our new Bunuru season is celebrated with a day-long program of performances, artist talks and more.

Witness Joan Jonas’ iconic Mirror Piece I & II (1969-70/2024), a live performance in PICA’s Central Gallery featuring 15 local performers moving mirrors in choreographed motion to explore gender hierarchies and the power of the gaze. Discover more about PICA’s building as a space for art, education and incubation in Diana Baker Smith’s balcony performance of Falling Towards Another as part of her 2024 Judy Wheeler Commission. Hear from artist Helen Johnson as she discusses the influence of art therapy on her practice with Cara Flame and conversations between Diana Baker Smith and PICA’s curator Sarah Wall, followed by Agatha Gothe-Snape with PICA’s Director/CEO Hannah Mathews. After the final performance of Mirror Piece I & II, don’t miss the opportunity to hear from the artistic team about the context of the work and the process of reimagining it for PICA’s galleries.
