Yarning Singing Workshops
The Phil Walleystack Indigenous Arts Foundation will soon showcase their talents in the Southwest with a workshop and concert, each providing a platform to present some of WA’s best Indigenous talent.
Heading to Margaret River on Thursday 19 September, a series of workshops will take place from 10am – 3pm, followed by a Yarning Singing concert hosted by Ernie Dingo from 7pm – 9pm. The workshops include Drumming and Percussion with Reggie D’Souza accommodating all ages and skill levels from beginners to professional musicians. Acting with Ernie Dingo will see the iconic Australian legend introduce acting and self-esteem development through confidence building and fun improvisation activities.
Write Your Own Music with Emily Gelineau sees the Grammy-winning violinist and composer teach you how to write your own music and come up with song ideas and Community Canvas, led by artist and performer Phil Walleystack teaches you how to collaborate with others and make incredible visual art.
Encouraging locals to come and be part of the creative experience, workshops are suitable for ages 12 and above and participants will rotate through all four workshops which run concurrently. Each workshop is limited to 20 participants at any one time ensuring quality experiences with every well recognised artist.
In the evening, the 90-minute Yarning Singing concert at Margaret River HEART will be hosted by Australian legend Ernie Dingo with breathtaking performances by recognised Indigenous artists Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, Phil Walleystack and more.
