More new trails mean Collie is now home to WA’s biggest mountain bike trail network
Following the completion of a 47 kilometres of bike tracks in Wellington National Park, Collie is now the home of WA’s largest network of mountain bike trails.
The new tracks officially opened this week, and they take the total to just shy of 100 kilometres of national park trails that can be explored on a bike in the region.
Within the network you can get to Wellington Dam, Honeymoon Pool, Mount Lennard and all the way to Collie River Valley.
And it isn’t just for the expert riders out there, the trails have been built to cater for complete beginners all the way up to competition riders.
All the new trails were funded through the $10 million Collie Adventure Trails initiative and will make Collie a world-class trail destination.
“We’ve put Collie on the map as a world-class trails tourism destination,” Premier Roger Cook said. “The Wambenger Trails network will draw thousands of visitors to Collie each year, supporting local businesses and creating local jobs in the community.”
To support the increased trail use, a new bike hire outlet has opened in Wellington National Park and there are a new range of tour options also available to introduce new riders to the sport.
“There is a mountain bike trail to suit everyone in Collie, whether you are an adrenalin junkie or out on a leisurely ride with the family,” said Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns. “This is fantastic news for the local economy and community and just another reason why you should add Collie as a bucket-list destination.”
Now you may be considering a trip to Collie, right? Well in other great news, Collie Ridge Resort has officially reopened after undergoing a $590,000 upgrade.

Previously known as the Collie Ridge Motel, the now modern resort has 134 rooms which is 80 more than what was available before. So plenty of extra space for the incoming mountain bikers!
As well as more space, the facility has a wellness centre, a gym, a swimming pool, children’s playground, function rooms and a restaurant.
Regional Development Minister Don Punch said this was just the beginning of the expansion of Collie’s accommodation offerings.
“Collie’s accommodation offerings are expanding with support from the Collie Futures Fund, with a range of new options being supported including accessible accommodation – this means more choice for visitors,” he said.
