Following a record-breaking 2023/24 summer season visitation-wise, Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) will be welcoming even more guests for longer this summer with a late-night ferry service.

Commencing Thursday 14 November, the new service will see the last ferry departing the island at 9pm from Thursday-Sunday until January, and then Friday-Sunday between February and April.

The service opens up golden hour on the island to day trippers, along with extra staffing options for the restaurants and eateries.

“As we approach the warmer months and the days become longer, it makes sense to provide these late-night ferries, so daytrippers get to experience the incredible island sunsets or enjoy dinner somewhere before heading back to Perth,” said Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti.

“The later ferry will also benefit island businesses, giving them the option to increase their services and roster on more staff to support the busier summer period.”

Some food and beverage specials will also be launched to coincide with the service.

Over the 2023/24 season the island saw more than 823,000 visitors head to the island by ferry alone.

The late night service will be operated by Rottnest Express, you can find out more via rottnestisland.com/stayalittlelonger.
