A new playground has officially opened at Serpentine Dam, inspired by the surrounding natural landscape.

As well as the new playground, the recreation area’s $2.5 million upgrade also includes new picnic tables, accessible toilet facilities and additional parking which will also service the neighbouring Bistro By the Dam café.

“Serpentine Dam has long been a popular spot for a picnic, and now even more people will be able to enjoy the area thanks to a new playground and improved accessibility, making it safer and more inclusive for all,” said Water Minister Simone McGurk, pictured below with Darling Range MLA Hugh Jones.

“July to November is wildflower season, so we’re coming into a great time of year to see the beautiful native wildflowers and try out the new facilities.”

Serpentine Dam is one of nine Water Corporation dams in the Darling Range with recreation facilities including walk trails, lookouts, barbecue and picnic areas that are open to the public. 2022 also saw upgrades to Churchman Brook Dam near Armadale, with the addition of a new playground, barbecues, grassed picnic area, and toilet facilities.
