Weir View Walk
Just a 45-minute drive from the CBD and you’ll arrive at the starting point of the walk at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre. The walk itself is a very straightforward 1.4km loop and because of the short distance we’d recommend you take it easy, more of a meander than a hike in truth.
But that’s perfect, because on the trail you’ll feel far away from the rest of the world and well as the name suggests there are some stunning views of the weir to stop and soak in. About halfway into the walk you’ll arrive at a wooden lookout that offers the best views of Mundaring Weir and glimpses of Lake CY O’Connor – the deep blue of the water alongside the brown and green colours of the forest is honestly so sweet.
Mundaring Weir Hotel
Time for a pint, right? The pub is just around the corner from the car park at the Discovery Centre so it would be rude not to stop in. The historic Mundaring Weir Hotel was built in 1898 to serve the workers for the dam that being built, and has welcomed some notable political figures over the years gone by, and now you for a much-deserved post-hike pint.
There’s everything you need from a pub, plenty of beers on tap, a full menu of pub classics and some top views over the forest and the dam. They also serve up a mean breakfast, so if you’re looking for a proper fuel-up before tackling the walk, the kitchen slings breakfast faves from 8.30-10.30am.
