Just two kilometres from the heart of Fremantle, this White Gum Valley home has plenty going for it in terms of location…

But beyond its enviable position close to many of our Freo faves, its inside-and-out charm has well and truly delighted us – and we’re taking a peek inside thanks to our friends at Crib Creative.

Perched on the corner of Pilbarra and Edmund Street, the four bedroom home’s exterior is clad in blackened timber and split face stone cladding, with crisp white balustrades softened by the lush green vines of climbing wisteria and handsome hedges – in fact, we’d say the exterior is almost as inviting as the charming interior.

Inside, the ’60s home has been updated for a contemporary, family-friendly lifestyle while maintaining a sense of warmth and eclecticism – from the worn brick of the fireplace or the timber floorboards to the lush forest green of the staircase.

Drenched in a more sage-hued green, the kitchen directly adjoins the entryway – and we’re positively in love. Designed, as the rest of the home is, by Jo Carmichael Interiors and featured in Elle Decoration UK and Est Magazine, it’s as practical as it is stylish.

A stunning expanse of Signorino Calacatta Viola marble makes up not just the benches, but encloses the original hearth with 900mm stove, its creamy blush-tinted hue complementing the soft sage walls. Opposite, fluted timber panelling neatly clads the integrated fridge and freezer.

Flowing on from the kitchen, the open plan living and dining boasts a soaringly high cathedral ceiling – the owners even affectionately dub the space “The Church”. Occupying the entire width of the home from east to west, the dining space flows out to a petite courtyard at the front of the home, while the lounge opens up to a stunning bougainvillea-topped alfresco dining space at the rear.

You may also notice that the kitchen windows open up directly to the adjacent outdoor bar seating – rather handy for cocktails on a warm summer evening, we say!

While two cosy bedrooms are on the ground floor, we’re rather taken by the two more that are upstairs. One is more snug in scale: perfect for kids or guests… The primary bedroom, though? Positively palatial!

As well as a large sleeping space tucked under that pitched shiplap ceiling, the primary bedroom suite boasts its own lounge area that opens onto the romantic wisteria-covered balcony, as well as a spacious ensuite with a back-to-wall bath and a rustic vanity crafted from an antique vintner’s trestle.
