Take a peek inside this wonderful West End warehouse
New York loft? Parisian pied-à-terre? Sure, they’re OK – but we’re eyeing off this West End warehouse: a stunning property packed with quirky Fremantle historic charm.
Let’s take a peek inside 28A Mouat Street thanks to our friends at Crib Creative.
You’ll find the home by passing through a discreet steel gate on Mouat Street: lined with stunning heritage façades, we reckon it’s one of Freo’s prettiest streets – and tantalisingly close to some of the Port City’s best eating and drinking, like Vin Populi (two minute walk), Ode to Sires (one minute walk), Darling Darling (three minute walk), Moore & Moore (three minute walk) to name just a few.
Beyond the steel gate, you’ll find yourself in a charming grapevine-covered laneway, enclosed by the rustic bricks of the neighbouring properties.
The three-storey home itself is located in what was once an 1880s warehouse – and while upgrades have transformed it into a contemporary home, soaringly high glass atriums on either side of the home and plenty of industrial features make its origins obvious.
In comparison to the impressive height of those atriums, tucked away on the lower floor, the kitchen and dining has a much more intimate scale – although the breakfast nook continues out to the glass atrium, a breathtaking spot surrounded by rustic brick and leafy garden beds. (This lower level also has its own self-contained studio with kitchenette and bathroom, accessed via the garage – perfect for visiting friends and family or adult children.)
Head upstairs to the middle floor of the home to find the light-filled primary suite – situated within the original warehouse, boy are we obsessed with the combo of original brickwork and timber floorboards, not to mention the positively palatial walk-in-robe and large private balcony.
(Plus that ginormous ensuite, complete with underfloor heating and designer tub.)

Fittingly for a space with such impressive natural light, the top floor is home to an artist studio – although it would also make working from home a little brighter!
And then, the pièce de résistance… A large rooftop terrace, overlooking the charming brick courtyard and he thistoric rooftops of Freo’s West End.
