Nestled between the Swan River and the vibrant eats of Vic Park, this home is truly one of one.

With trails of ivy across its lilac exterior, 36A Geddes Street has lived a number of lives since its origins as a corner store in the early 1930s – reportedly the first store in WA to use the term “supermarket” – before becoming a coffee roastery, tea warehouse and then hire car premises.

Let’s take a peek inside thanks to our friends at Crib Creative.

Entryways are on two sides of the home: via the original shop-house on Geddes Street, or via Washington Street, which will take you into the expansive warehouse space.

A vast open-plan dining and living space, the soaring ceiling height is immediately impressive, interjected with 15 metre trusses constructed of Canadian Oregon timber and Scottish steel.

But perhaps most impressively, it’s this vast space that’s also home to a huge 14 metre freshwater indoor pool, separated from the living room by a wall of glass panels.

The northernmost end of the warehouse space is devoted to a spacious dining area that adjoins the petite kitchen and scullery as well as a vine-covered alfresco – with this much space, just imagine the dinner party guest lists! (Don’t worry, we’ll bring the wine…)

Continue through the kitchen and you’ll find a home office or library space, and then a huge warehouse-style bedroom that adjoins the alfresco. With concrete floors and high ceilings, it would also make a great studio space for all those creative projects you’ve been meaning to get around to finishing…

Head upstairs and you’ll find the light-filled, north-facing primary bedroom – which boasts not only a substantial ensuite and dressing room, but a private balcony that looks out onto Geddes Street.

The home’s two other bedrooms (there are four in total!) are on the same floor, but separately situated at the other end of that huge warehouse space – accessed via that cool spiral staircase, it’s also where you’ll find a smaller mezzanine lounge, another study plus a bathroom and a powder room! Practically a bathroom for every day of the week.
