This bonkers Bentley home is right up our alley

There ain’t nothing we love more than a quirky, kooky home! The whackier the better, we say! And this Bentley home… Well, it’s up there with the best of them.

Let’s have a little look, thanks to our friends at Crib Creative.

Perched atop a hill on one of Bentley’s quiet, winding streets opposite Bunning Park, 40 Deverell Way‘s robust brown brick form cuts a rather imposing figure – although its robustness is softened by the curvature of those distinctive scalloped balconies and the gently rounded edges of its grid of windows.

A robust form with scalloped balconies reminds us of another home… While the exterior is markedly different, there’s an echo of iconically bonkers Vic Park home Villa di Maria to 40 Deverell Way – and not just in the exterior!

Inside – through the stunning solid jarrah doorway – we’re met by an sweeping spiral staircase and more of that impressive jarrah detailing. Granite floors have been hand-selected and imported from Italy, of course, while the timberwork took two craftsmen three years to complete.

As you wind your way inside, you’ll find yourself in one of the most impressive spaces in the home! The spectacular double height dining room, surrounded with more jarrah bannisters like a triumphant crown. This is also one of the best vantage points to appreciate the symmetry of the round mezzanine and the ornate ceiling roses.

At the opposite end of the dining space, a living room is divided from the casual meal space by a sculptural brass feature, like a giant’s gleaming pan flute in your home. Magical!

Upstairs, we can appreciate those ceilings close up – as well as the amazing circular formal living room that overlooks the dining downstairs. (It also has a bar, duh! Having a circular living room without a bar seems practically sacrilegious.)

We also have to take a moment to appreciate the retro appeal of the many bathrooms (there’s four of ’em). We’re particularly taken by the delicate florals of the primary bedroom’s ensuite – although the others certainly compete in our eyes.

Outside, you are ready for the festa of a lifetime with a uniquely shaped concrete in-ground pool and heaps of space for entertaining – and with that barbecue cover, you’ll be set to grill year-round!
