Take a peek into this ’70s home that has us in a chokehold
Another one?!
Just the other day, we were saying we must sound like a bloody broken record, and yet here we are again – and really, just how many fabulously mid-century homes can there actually be?
As it turns out… Quite a few! And we’ve got another absolute stunner to show you, thanks to our buddies at Crib Creative.
Nestled in the doorstep of the Hills, 5 Morrison Drive was the personal home of celebrated Perth architect Rhoades Easton – who was also the designer of many of Perth Zoo’s most iconic enclosures.
The home is a real mid ’70s gem: its three levels chock-a-block with all the warm, retro features we’ve come to appreciate with such gusto of late.
We’re talkin’ amber bullion windows, heaps of timber (including stunning timber-framed glazing) and oodles of brown brick – something that may have scared us off in the past, but these days we’re only too happy to appreciate.
It’s in the kitchen that we really start turning up the heat, though! Alongside the brown brick and classically mid-century timber cabinetry, the combination of those backsplash tiles, with the timber, with the most perfectly cobalt shade of blue cabinet fronts?
We’re stammering, we’re stuttering, we’re totally in love!

Overlooking the dining and kitchen, another living room provides more space to unwind – while staying connected to whoever’s prepping dinner in the kitchen, or soaking up the sunshine on the attached deck.
This is the same level that you’ll find the spacious primary bedroom and retro ensuite, with two additional bedrooms on the ground floor – featuring more of that fantastically vibrant blue, this time in the carpets, offset by vivid orange accessories.
