This Floreat home is pure mid-century magic
There are some pairings that just go together oh-so naturally: peanut butter and jelly, Batman and Robin, bacon and eggs…
And we’d like to humbly submit another for consideration: Floreat and mid-century homes!
The suburb is a mecca for mid-century magic, and this Lifford Road gem is a shining, well-preserved example of the era – and just a few doors down from iconic architect Iwan Iwanoff’s own leafy home, sold in 2022.
Thanks to our friends at Crib Creative, let’s have a little peek inside…
From the outset, its era is immediately on show with a gently sweeping, low-slung skillion roof, Toodyay stone feature wall and white breeze blocks that neatly conceal the main bedroom’s private courtyard.
We also can’t help but delight in those floor-to-ceiling windows allowing a flood of light into the lounge. We’ve got a hankering for a retro cocktail while curled up in that armchair!
Inside, jarrah beams and floating cabinetry are the star of the show – offset by a geometric brick feature wall behind a dark brick bar.
(Look familiar? The home was used as a film set for The Shark Net, the popular 2003 miniseries based on Robert Drewe’s memoir of the same name!)
The lounge seamlessly flows through to the more relaxed living area, with some stunning parquetry flooring and even more windows – this time looking out to the backyard, with (unfilled) 12 metre pool and a rather groovy alfresco. Perhaps we’ll take that cocktail out the back?

Adjoining the living area is a light-filled informal dining area and kitchen – surrounded by those gorgeous timber-framed windows that also over look the backyard.
While the living and entertaining areas of the home are clustered in one wing, a corridor separates the bedrooms into their own wing for the ultimate privacy.
