This very cute, very quirky Shenton Park home has hit the market
If you’re in the market for quirky charm and some of Perth’s prettiest, leafiest streets – you can’t look past Shenton Park.
And tucked behind an ivy-covered wall, this two bedroom home designed by architect Kim Stirling exemplifies the suburb’s well-heeled eccentricity… Let’s take a peek inside thanks to our friends at Crib Creative!
Enter through that vibrant blue door and find yourself in a lush, plant filled courtyard that cocoons the home’s entry from the street.
The front door brings you into the heart of the home, between the cosy kitchen tucked underneath a mezzanine level above, and the comfortable living area – complete with soaringly high ceilings and snuggly timber-framed fireplace. The space is an eclectic mix of exposed brick, timber beams, limestone slabs, parquetry and tiles – originally designed in 1978, plenty of its warm, retro charm remains, thankfully, intact.
At the home’s centre? A huge covered courtyard, filled with tropical plants, its own wood-burning stove and with ample space for dinner parties – it’s also got its own A/C for summer, but we’re already imagining cosy evenings in the cooler months, with the stove burning and the sound of the rain on the roof.

The primary bedroom is on the opposite side of the courtyard: the rustic space benefits from double-height vaulted ceilings, with a mezzanine retreat located above and the home’s quirky bathroom adjacent – complete with round tiled bath/shower combo!
(The home’s second bathroom is nestled in the mezzanine above the kitchen.)
Connecting to the primary bedroom, as well as opening up to the laneway behind the home, the rear courtyard is yet another delightful, brick-lined space – and where you’ll find the very cute studio with its cobalt blue French doors. We love!
