Take a tour through this stunning 1930s Inglewood reno
With sweeping curves and monastic restraint, this Inglewood home reinterprets its Spanish Mission style through a modern lens.
You’ll be able to get an up close and personal look through the home at this year’s Open House Perth, returning on November 9-10, 2024 and offering a backstage pass to Perth’s most interesting design destinations.
Part of a global network of Open House events, the first Open House Perth was held in 2012 – and since then has welcomed over 400,000 design lovers to hundreds of architectural spaces normally hidden from the public!
Known as Casa Curvas, the home was originally built in 1932, with its transformation overseen by Thomasz Design & Construction.
The white stucco exterior, terracotta roof tiles and arched windows are where the Spanish Mission style is retained with the most fidelity – while inside, the home has been entirely redesigned with a timelessly minimalistic sensibility.
The entry foyer is a breathtaking illustration of this style – in which dramatic, soaring ceilings meet elegant, arched corridors, lime-washed render and glossy, textural travertine tiles.

Continue through these monastic corridors and you’ll find yourself in the light-drenched kitchen and living space, the entire back wall opening up to connect to the Mediterranean-inspired backyard.
While restrained to a textural, neutral materiality with the continuation of travertine floors, lime wash and blonde cabinetry (surely dinnertimes are tranquil in a space like this?) – luxury remains at the top of mind, with features like high-tech appliances and a spacious scullery.
Through to the backyard, and the over 9 metre high alfresco is a showstopper for entertaining – complete with outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Opposite, the cabana’s archways and terracotta roof mimics the stunning Spanish Mission style of the home.
Not quite relaxed enough from the tranquility of the kitchen or a float in the stunning pool? The primary bedroom upstairs is the definition of relaxation – not just because of its pared-back style that echoes the rest of the home, but because of the totally luxe addition of a built-in sauna!
