The word “timeless” often gets bandied about – but how often is it really accurate?

This absolutely stunning 1920s Darlington property is an elegant example of a home that truly stands the test of time.

Let’s take a peek inside thanks to our friends at Crib Creative.

Known as Kirkcaldy, the ca. 1920 home is built in the style of a late-Edwardian Californian Bungalow – however unlike many other homes we usually see of the same era, Kirkcaldy is set apart by its charming (and robust) iron stone construction.

Adding to that sense of robustness, the porch is enclosed by four huge tapered columns – and when paired with the warm glow of the lanterns either side of the front door, we can’t help but think of sweet fairytale cottages. The surrounding 4459 square block and manicured English-style gardens don’t hurt either!

To the right of the main entry of the home, you’ll be lead into the more casual of the home’s two dining areas, with built-in bench seating surrounded by those elegant paned windows and a cosy double-sided fireplace – its other side warming the adjacent living room.

(You can also take a peek at those beautiful newly coffered ceilings, seen throughout the living and dining areas of the ground floor.)

Across from the casual dining nook, another spacious living room provides plenty more spots to curl up by the fire.

And wouldn’t you know it… That living room flows on seamlessly to the second dining room and the rather lush kitchen, itself decked out with some stunning Bianco Carrara marble counters and AGA Falcon oven. Plus, for extra easy access for pre dinner drinks… The dining room also leads out to its own topiary-surrounded patio.

(We’re getting a little green with envy at this point…)

The outside entertaining doesn’t end there, either – with another large alfresco area that leads out to the resort-style heated pool.

In the middle of the home you’ll find both a bathroom and powder room, both refurbished recently and with ornate features that have them fit seamlessly with the home’s heritage aesthetic.

Bedrooms are divided between the ground and first floor, with both ground floor bedrooms boasting their own fireplaces – one with an attached study or retreat – and four more bright and airy bedrooms found upstairs.
