While we’ve seen our fair share of 1930s-era stunners around Perth – this home is something extra special.

With two grand palm trees at its front, you can understand how this seven bedroom, six bathroom home got the name “Palm Manor”… But we think the name also hints at its old-world, classic Hollywood glamour, pairing Tudor Revival detailing with luxe contemporary additions.

For guests, entry is via the lush, agapanthus-filled front courtyard – just imagine a garden party here, sipping champagne while gathered around the water feature.

But you? You’ll be coming home via the garage and undercroft – the most contemporary addition to the home and arguably the most lavish.

Head from your car straight into the intimate cigar lounge, complete with a rustic fireplace that mimics the Tudor archways seen on the home’s exterior.

Adjoining the cigar lounge? An expansive 500-bottle wine cellar – or, take a left and pass through the plush, subterranean soundproof home theatre.

Completing this lush lower level? A sleek, modern kitchen and laundry – one of two kitchens in the home. (Our eye is twitching with envy at this point, FYI.)

The laundry will lead you through to the stunning backyard, where you’ll be facing two mirrored structures on either side of the pool, built to replicate those Tudor archways: one, an alfresco area with outdoor kitchen (oops, is that three kitchens?) perfect for summer entertaining. The other? A home gym and bathroom complete with built-in sauna.

If you can believe it, we haven’t even made it into the main, original part of the home yet.

So let’s head back to the front door and entryway… And what an entryway! Polished parquetry floors, original leadlight pocket doors depicting the Empire State Building, the original crystal chandelier, and that breathtaking, sweeping timber-clad staircase. Gorg!

The home was originally designed in January 1936 by architects Powell Cameron and Chisolm – still operating today under the name Cameron Chisolm Nicol, the firm was first established in 1884 and is one of the oldest architectural practices in Australia.

While the exterior is decidedly Tudor Revival, the interior reflects more of an Art Deco influence – especially in those meticulously preserved ceilings.

Tucked behind the staircase, another spectacular original feature that, when we first saw it, quite literally took our breath away: the original olive green and mother-of-pearl terrazzo bathroom. It’s just so good!

By contrast, the primary bedroom suite’s lavish bathroom takes a more maximalist, contemporary approach – decked out in emerald tiles and flocked, fleur de lis flocked wallpaper.

Matching the green tones, the contemporary kitchen is found on the other side of the ground floor to the primary bedroom.

Between them, a bright sunroom with fabulous checkerboard floor overlooks the backyard, while the stylish living room looks out to the front courtyard.

You’ll also find two more bedrooms on the ground floor – but we’re particularly charmed by the pitched ceilings and bay windows of the rooms in the home’s upper level.
