2024 FuelWatch data reveals where to find Perth’s cheapest petrol prices

With cossie-livs front of mind, basically all of the time, we’re constantly on the hunt on ways to pinch a penny or two, and saving on fuel can make a huge difference.

Last week FuelWatch released their 2024 petrol price data to indicate the best locations around the country to find the cheapest average fuel price.

And Commissioner for Consumer Protection Trish Blake says that just by using the FuelWatch app, you can save over $1,300 per year just by shopping around before you fuel up.

FuelWatch data crowned Vibe Bullsbrook Northlink as the champion of cheap fuel in 2024, with an average price of 164.3 cents per litre (cpl) for unleaded petrol (ULP), while close on their heels were Atlas Fuel Kwinana at 164.9 cpl and Atlas Fuel Ascot at 165.2 cpl.

While Costco outlets at Casuarina and Perth Airport consistently had the lowest prices for both ULP and diesel, they require an annual membership to access these savings.

Interesting the data also revealed that Perth was the cheapest of the five major capital cities for ULP in 2024, and has been the cheapest or second cheapest since 2019.

• Vibe Ascot – 165.7 cpl
• Burk Landsdale – 165.8 cpl
• United Naval Base – 166.1 cpl
• Atlas Fuel Caversham & Liberty Landsdale (tie) – 166.7 cpl

When’s the best day to fill up?

Perth operates on a weekly petrol price cycle, and Tuesday is consistently the cheapest day to fill up. Diesel, however, doesn’t follow this trend, so it’s worth checking prices regularly.

On average, the daily price difference between the cheapest and most expensive outlets is a massive 41.8 cpl – a reminder that loyalty to a particular brand could be costing you big.
