Without urgent help and support, the much-needed Meals on Wheels WA may have to close its doors.

For over 70 years, Meals on Wheels has been a meal provider and a form of connection for those who need it most in Western Australia.

Currently, thousands of vulnerable people across our state rely on Meals on Wheels, but the essential service is at breaking point.

Paul Sadler, chair of Meals on Wheels Australia, said Meals on Wheels has and always will be “more than a meal,” going deeper to combat social isolation and malnutrition.

“The positive impact of Meals on Wheels goes beyond the delivery of the meal itself,” he said. “The dual benefit to both customer and volunteer truly shows how Meals on Wheels has been making a difference in almost every Australian community for over 70 years.”

Across WA there are 1,800-2,000 volunteers who help to keep the Meals on Wheels system up and running.

However, without the necessary funding, the organisation may be forced to close, with its advocacy and support services outsourced to a less-connected peak body in another state.

To help, you can donate, join the group of volunteers or get involved at an executive level.

To donate now, head to mealsonwheelswa.org.au – your donation can make a difference and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
