It’s that time of year again! You start to hear carols in the distance, the sparkle of tinsel catches your eye. It’s time for some… Stale hors d’oeuvres and cheap sparkling? Awkward chats with Barry from accounts? We’ve rounded up a few ideas to make sure your office’s holiday do is actually fun this year, you can feel free to forward directly to the boss.

Shoot ‘Em Up

There’s nothing that’ll bring a team together more than some shared adrenaline and high-powered firearms. We’re pacifists and all, but we’re not opposed to testing our grit against some innocent clay targets. Hot Shots Shooting is Perth’s foremost clay target shooting facility, helmed by Commonwealth Games gold medallist and national shooter Laura Coles. If you’d rather stay indoors, Perth’s largest indoor shooting complex Top Shot has you covered.

Get Cooking

We don’t know about you, but one thing that really bonds us here in the Perth Is OK! offices is an enduring passion for food… And what better way to strengthen that bond than with some cooking classes? We’ve rounded up some of our favourites over HERE, with a special mention to the in-depth pasta workshops hosted by Simone Agostino of The Table Of Us.

Chuck Some Axes

Axe-throwing has gone from a niche activity to a world-wide craze, with centres opening up all over Perth in the last few years. Book your office into a session at Lumber Punks‘ distinctive tartan warehouse in East Perth: you can lob some axes, and once you’re finished you can always pop over to Whipper Snapper or Bright Tank Brewing for a drink after all that hard yakka. Alternatively, Maniax is conveniently located right in Northbridge – perfect for the first stop on what is sure to be a raucous night.

Escape Rooms

Get your adrenaline pumping with a visit to Escape This’ immersive escape rooms situated in the heart of Northbridge. With nine themed rooms you’ll be getting your noggin working overtime, and they have activities suitable for the scared-iest cats to total horror-junkies. What could get a team more bonded than the shared thrill of completing Australia’s most extreme escape room?

Ready Team One

Hidden down the Murray Street mall in the Perth CBD, Ready Team One is the brainchild of a few Perth mates with a passion for VR and the desire to create a unique gaming experience the likes of which you literally cannot find anywhere else in Australia. Set within an expansive 200 square metre VR arena, this is the only VR experience incorporating full body tracking – including your fingers! Once suited up you take control of a fully-kitted avatar complete with weaponry to take on one of three scenarios – an alien invasion, a zombie apocalypse, or an all-out war. Far from a boring shoot ‘em up, you’ll be fully immersed for up to 40 minutes minutes where it’ll take teamwork and sharp thinking to solve puzzles and escape a variety of situations.

If the work crew are all about the great outdoors, Trees Adventure will have you swinging from tree to tree like George of the Jungle! Experience the beautiful scenery of Yanchep National Park (plus another location at Lane Poole Park!) in a totally new way – tackling an obstacle course suspended amongst the trees.

Professional dealers will take the reins, hosting games at a venue of your choice and getting any rookies up to speed. It’s also a ripe opportunity for endless impressions – you can have an award for the best John Malkovich in Rounders.

Sip N’ Paint With Frida

Frida’s takes the classic Sip n’ Paint to new heights, with a lavish, chandelier-filled setting that’ll really make your event festive. Paired with their fun, engaging hosts who’ll give you plenty of painting tips and tricks to help you release your inner Picasso, you and your office pals will be painting masterpieces in no time. Importantly, Frida’s is completely BYO – so you can bring your own bubbles for the team or mix up a sparkling gin & soda while enjoying snacks and nibbles to your heart’s content.

How About Dinner And A Show?

While we might think of dinner and a show as being more of a date night option, The Rechabite are showing us how to take it to the next level. This festive season, book in the work crew for Rouge Circus – full of death-defying acrobatics and spicy burlesque, the show pairs perfectly with the flavour-packed food at Double Rainbow. Keep the party going with a visit to Hello Rooftop Bar (and a couple of cheeky cocktails, of course)!
