It’s an understatement to say we’re big on what Perth has to offer – and while we’re into our fair city year-round, in the season of giving there’s even more opportunities to support local makers.

Idle Hands Drinks Co.
Whether you’re arriving triumphantly at your friendsmas, livening up your family’s Crimbo table or gifting a bottle (or two!) to your thirstiest pals, Idle Hands is ready to add a bit of colour to your Christmas festivities. Crafted right here in Perth, these juicy, fizzy and very fun cocktails evoke the summer sunshine – without having to reveal just how lacking our mixology skills are. Each flavour has been crafted with locally-sourced ingredients, and a strict no heat treatment rule – keeping the flavours as big and bold as you’d expect over the bar. The Bird
Got a local music lover in your life? They’ll definitely be a fan of The Bird, a Northbridge institution that has been a pivotal venue for many of our brightest musical talents since opening in 2010. The Bird needs our help to keep flying though – and you can show your support by gifting the music lover in your life tickets to one of their epic January fundraisers, which include epic local lineups and free-flowing drinks packages.
Kura Studio
We can’t get enough of Kura Studio’s thoughtful approach to homewares. Founded by BFFs Serena and Anika, their products turn everyday moments into something truly special – from cleverly shaped utensil holders that fan out your kitchen or craft tools juuuust right, Japanese-style garlic graters that fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, or ceramic painting palettes that practically transform your clumsy weekend watercolours into blissful meditation.

What’s better than combining gifting with doing good? Mettle’s lush, ethical gift packs (chockas with locally and Australian made products!) will not only brighten someone’s day, but have been put together through a paid program that employs and trains women referred via partnering crisis shelters, helping them transition into the workforce or to further education, and assisting them in building financial security.
Anya Brock
Renowned WA artist Anya Brock – known for her vibrant technicolour works – is opening a brand new gallery at FOMO Freo just in time for the festive season! Launching officially on December 9 and open every day until Christmas, the gallery will stock a range of the artist’s original works, printed canvas and prints, plus homewares for the colour-loving maximalists in your life!
Neighbourhood Press
The lovely folks at Neighbourhood Press certainly know a thing or two about stationery! This Fremantle-based risograph print studio stocks a delightful selection of vibrant paper goods – from calendars that’ll get you excited about the year to come or diaries to doodle in, charming art prints or greeting cards to let someone special know you’re thinking about them.
TYPE1.0

Subi distillery Spirit of Little Things has teamed up with one of Australia’s premier wineries to create a limited edition gin showcasing Singlefile’s premium grapes, balanced with native botanicals. There’s two drops to choose from, a Chardonnay Gin and a Pinot Noir Gin, each offering something different for the different palettes out there! The former is perfect for some summert-time G&Ts, with the latter offering nice opportunities for sipping, mixed with dry ginger ale or a cheeky little “Pinot Negroni”. WA Opera
What do you get the person who has everything? A transcendent experience at the opera, of course! Whether you’re an opera newbie or a die-hard opera fanatic, WA Opera’s 2024 season has something in store for everyone – starting with the spectacular Wundig wer Wilura, a story of star-crossed lovers created by award-winning songwriters and storytellers Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse and sung in Noongar.

Ghost Outdoors

Perth artist Carla Adams has something for your sweetest (and most ratbaggy!) friend. We’ve got a newfound obsession with local artist and ceramicist Coby McDougall (aka cobesmcgee)’s unique mugs and vases. Each piece is uniquely handcrafted with bold and irreverent designs (who doesn’t need a mug that declares “NAH” with such conviction?), or curious faces. Their online shop is currently sold out but rest assured, they have a bunch of markets coming up for the 2023 festive season!
Sue Lewis Chocolatier
If you’ve got a chocolate fiend in your life, don’t just get them any old choccies – get them the best of the best. And you can’t get much better than the luxe chocolates of Sue Lewis Chocolatier. Nestled deep within the State Buildings, Lewis has been hard at work crafting some extra special festive treats… As well as a next-level advent calendar that’ll knock your socks off.

Know a few plant-killers? (We’re guilty as charged!) Local start-up Willow is changing the indoor gardening game, and hopefully saving a few plants along the way. The nifty gadget is inserted into your beloved plant’s soil, and when paired with a handy app will tell you exactly what your plant needs – no frantic watering or hasty repotting required.
Bedtonic
Boy, do we love a sleep in. And is there anything better to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning in than Bedtonic sheets? Local photographer George Vavakis wanders the streets of Perth searching for a mix of beautiful and unusual scenes in amongst the ordinary, and the results are extraordinary. We’re pretty lucky with the amazing selection of breweries in WA, but there’s so little time and so much beer!
