As we emerge out of the wettest winter in decades, we’re ready for the warm embrace of summer – and the warm embrace of friends! This is your sign to get the gang around for a lively dinner, and here are our favourite spots to get our tables looking extra stylish:
We’re pretty obsessed with everything Side Serve have on offer, drooling for years over their insta feed – and now that they have a store, you don’t need to find an excuse to hire their goodies. They’ve got all the goodies you need to make your table extra special, from terrazzo cheeseboards, technicolour tumblers, crystal glassware worth raising your pinky for, generously sized serving platters or candle holders that range from bright and playful to gothic, organic shapes.
It’s pretty hard to narrow down our favourite ceramicists of Perth, but Winterwares have gotta be up there. This Fremantle studio blends the quirkiness of handmade ceramics with thoughtful utilitarian design. Step up your breakfast game with a set of the perfectly sized lagom bowls, or impress your next dinner guests with the minimalist, white speckle dinner plates. If you can’t quite stretch to a new set of crockery, they’ve also got serving platters and bowls, as well as soap dishes, vases and planters to inject a bit of serenity into your home.
With a curated range of wares on offer, Kaki Studio create beautifully designed objects that effortlessly slide into your everyday. Whether it’s a one-of-a-kind mug with a striking wide-set handle, a just-the-right-size vase for your dinner table, or the perfect speckly-blue candle holder, these pieces will bring a little something special into your next dinner.
Hall of Flame
There’s nothing that completes your table’s ambience more thoroughly than a candle or two – but when they’re as cool as Hall of Flame‘s? You’ll be lighting them every night. These are candles you’ve never seen before: glow in the dark, one metre tall, dripping multi-coloured wax… you’ll never be able to look at a tea light again.
You’ve put all this effort into getting those gorgeous hand-crafted ceramics, the coolest candles in town… all to chuck it on top of your dinged-up dining table. Make things a little more… refined with a luxe linen tablecloth from local linen lovers Bedtonic. Draped over your table, you’ll be feeling like royalty – plus they’re coloured with non-toxic dyes to keep things friendly to the planet. Complete the look with some matching napkins to really impress.
10 Hood St, Subiaco
La Luna is a must-visit any time we want to add a little something special to our homes, and our tables in particular! From the sweetest blush, long-stemmed coupes, to a graphic arched vase, or even a fun tea set for your after dinner cuppa, your table will be looking as cute as a button.
879 Beaufort Street, Inglewood
So Last Century
If you’re looking for something really one-of-a-kind, So Last Century is a treasure trove of stuff you just won’t find anywhere else. One of our favourite antique and collectable stores, the store if filled with fantastical kitsch finds: think everything from gigantic vintage Italian ceramic leopards (now that’s a centrepiece), to an esky that looks disarmingly like a life-size sheep. We told you, one of a kind!
745 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley
Ok, maybe the leopards aren’t quite your vibe – but when it comes to a luxe, minimalistic Scandi vibe, Arrival Hall has everything you need to set the mood. Matte black Normann Copenhagen cheese knives? Ferm Living’s chic brass cake server, or their fluted and smoked glass champagne saucers? Fantastisk!
162 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge
