Fun, friendly and free-of-charge, run clubs are continuing to spring up across Perth.

Propelled into popularity by social media, run clubs are really having their moment right now, and it’s not hard to see why. Typically open to all people of all abilities, run clubs are proving to be a great way to make friends and get fit.

Some are even dubbing them the new dating apps! Regardless of whether or not you’re looking for love on the run, you’re sure to find a community of like-minded people who enjoy coming together to hit the pavement.

Rise + Run

Now at 47 runs and counting, Rise + Run’s growing community of runners continue to flock back to Cottesloe for its good vibes and coastal run, walk, swim and coffee combo. Meeting every Friday morning, the popular run club welcomes all, including furry friends, and even has a physio every Friday morning to assist keen runners with all things recovery.

The Early Ones

Since its first run back in March 2022, The Early Ones run club has continued to attract more and more people to partake in a fun, untimed morning coastal run followed by a swim and coffee. Centred around making new friends and supporting local businesses, the club meets every Sunday, typically at Scarborough, and also organises evening runs during the week for those who are averse to early mornings.

The 440

Dubbed the ‘running optional run club’, Perth’s installation of the popular 440 club can help you kickstart your weekend with a Saturday run or walk followed by a dip and sip. Although the crew meets at 5.55am, you can join for the swim and sip or just for the sip; all are welcome to come and hang.

The group also hosts regular ‘Run (or stroll/roll/crap jog) to the Pub’ events as well as other queer-friendly social events. Perth Frontrunners’ Saturday morning runs are open to non-members too.

Another great option for those SOR is Manning Park Trail Runners, a free and open-to-everyone run club that meets every Thursday night at 6pm for a one-hour run followed by a well-deserved feed at Coogee Beach Surf Club (post-run parmi and pint, anyone?).
