Fresh of the back of a Government report that WA’s ‘events boom’ generated $286 million for the State last financial year, Rolling Stone Australia is reporting some rock’n’roll legends are making their way here next year.

According to the article posted last night by Lars Brandle, Metallica will be playing a Perth show at Optus Stadium on November 1, 2025, followed by east coast dates:

“When the Bay Area metal legends head south for their M72 trek, well-placed sources tell RS, Optus Stadium will play host with a concert on Saturday, November 1st.”

If true, it continues our State’s run of big ticket events that generated $286 million to the economy, with more than a third of that coming from Coldplay ($43.3 million), WWE: Elimination Chamber ($36.2 million), and FIFA Women’s World Cup matches ($25.3 million).

“We’re successfully securing global-scale events, putting the eyes of the world on Western Australia, bringing in thousands of visitors and helping our city to reach its full potential, while creating jobs, supporting small businesses and pumping millions into our economy,” said Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti.

“We have so much to offer visitors from all over the world, and this event strategy is clearing giving many thousands of people a reason to come to Western Australia and see all that we have to offer.”

An Australian tour for Metallica will be their first visit down under since way back in 2013 when they headlined Soundwave Festival.

Metallica announced they were headed to Australia in a statement last month as part of the M72 World Tour for their latest album, though did not reveal dates or locations.
