$20mil Hamersley Golf Course redevelopment opens next week, incl. new bar and restaurant
With construction commencing towards the end of last year, the new-look Hamersley Public Golf Course will officially re-open next Monday, December 16.
The star attraction of the new course will be a fully-licensed, entertainment-focused two-storey driving range with advanced ball-tracking technology, digital simulation gaming options, lounge seating, and food and drink service throughout the venue.
It’s hoped that Stirling Leisure – Hamersley Public Golf Course will become a leading family-friendly public golf and hospitality destination in the vein of nearby Wembley Golf Course.
Food and drinks will be served to all 30 bays in the two-storey driving range from an on-site bar and kiosk called Caddy’s, from 12-9pm every day.
Bays will be allocated by time rather than balls, and will feature two viewing screens meaning groups of up to eight people can make the most of the options on offer, including an assortment of games and simulations of the world’s best courses.
Alongside the range other new features for the course include a new bar and restaurant called Sunny Social, a new pro shop and the City of Stirling’s “biggest ever public art project”.
“The new driving range and pavilion, in particular, are going to transform this venue and make it more attractive to more members of our community,” said City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin (pictured above). “This is the only public golf course in the City of Stirling and I’m proud to say it’s now one of the best public golf courses in WA.”
Sunny Social is a 500-person venue that features a bar, restaurant, function room, kiosk and al fresco seating, along with a children’s play area to create family-friendly vibes, open from 6.30am til late.
There will also be an open-air events space on site, available to hire out for social events, along with hosting jazz concerts, outdoor cinemas and more.
Perth hospitality company Tuart Tree Estate will be managing all three hospitality sites at the course, which is home to the tuart trees that have inspired the public art you’ll find at the course, created by Perth’s Pamela Gaunt in collaboration with Apparatus.
There are four interconnected pieces in total running from the pavilion to the range, with one piece spanning a whopping 43m.
The course will also be home to new state-of-the-art golf carts, along with 70 extra parking bays.
Bookings are now open for the driving range and bar – head to the City of Stirling website to find out more.
