Perth’s Swan Film Festival returns next month with a stacked, female-lead program
Pop the corn and clear the schedule: Swan Perth International Women in Film Festival is returning for its third year running – and they’ve got a stacked program of female-lead films from all over the world to get around.
Kicking off on October 25, the festival features three days jam-packed with films from near and far – supporting and celebrating female filmmakers, perspectives and the burgeoning WA film industry.
The festival’s home base will be across Luna Leederville, the Backlot and SAE Northbridge, with program highlights including short films Blood Sisters, an unsettling look at female bonding directed and written by Brisbane-based filmmaker Muraya Moore; Sorry Sorry, a uniquely female take on athletic aggression directed and written by Melbourne-based filmmaker Ella Rose Crowley; and Olga’s Eyes, a quirky Belgian vampiric comedy directed by Sarah Carlot Jaber.
