Beatty Park Leisure Centre

This leisure centre is one of the largest in Perth and has been providing a great place to relax and have a swim while the kids play since 1962. Beatty Park Leisure Centre boasts six heated swimming areas, with a 10 lane 50-metre pool, a 30-metre pool and a 12-metre pool outside. Inside, there’s an eight lane 25-metre pool with an adjoining water playground and some fun slides that are guaranteed to keep the kids entertained while you relax in the spa, sauna or steam room. For the fitness lovers, there’s a large gym and two group fitness studios, a cycle studio and a yoga studio. If that’s not enough to have you on your way there, they also offer a crèche and a swimwear store and a café.

Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre

Head down to Terry Tyzack for an aquatic centre that offers luxury, with their indoor spa heated to 37°C and the indoor dry sauna where you can relax and rejuvenate after some laps in their 25-metre, eight lane pool. They also have a heated leisure pool and offer crèche and learn to swim classes for the kids and beginners. Their large gym offers a variety of cardio, strength and free weights equipment for you to keep fit with and you can even choose from more than 90 group fitness classes per week to join including Yoga, Spin, Aqua Fitness and Les Mills.

If you’re looking to unwind, their leisure pool is geothermally heated to a slightly warmer 29°C for your comfort. This fitness and aquatic centre boasts five different swimming pools with ranging temperatures and depths. Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre is the perfect all in one place for a delightful day out with the family, competitive swimming or rehabilitation. Send the kids to the water play area while you swim a few laps in the eight lane outdoor 50-metre Olympic pool heated to 27°C. Or, if you prefer an indoor pool, checkout their eight lane 25-metre pool heated to 29°C. For a more relaxing swim, head to the covered outdoor leisure pool heated to 32°C. This pool is split into three sections including the beach style entry pool with a lazy river, the learn to swim zone which is designed for younger children in Swim School, and the walking lanes which are best for walking, slow swimming and rehabilitation exercises for older adults. Finally, there’s the program pool, heated to a warmer 34°C, it’s perfect for therapeutic activities. There’s even a calmative wellness suite with a sauna, steam room and spa where you can unravel.

To keep the kids busy, send them over to the outdoor children’s water playground and when you’re ready to relax, make sure you find your way to the spa heated to 36°C, the sauna heated to 80-90°C or the steam room heated to 45-50°C. There’s also a range of aquatic fitness classes with options for every age group. If you’re over 50, try Revitalise Aqua, this low impact class is a suitable challenge for all fitness levels and provides a fun and social atmosphere. For those aged 16 and above, checkout Aqua Fit, this cardio and conditioning workout takes place in the water to support the body and provide some resistance to build on your fitness levels. If neither of those sound right for you, why not try your hand at Aqua Stick, with this exercise you’ll use rubber bands attached to a bar to add more resistance to your water exercises so you can increase fat burning and muscle building.
