While we think women should be celebrated every day of the year, every International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to pause, reflect and think about how to support womxn’s equality. Here are just a few WA organisations that you can show your support to not just today, but year-round.

Starick

Starick provides vital support to women and children escaping domestic and family violence. As well as their two refuges, they also provide transitional housing and outreach services, which includes counselling, advocacy and other support. Head to their website HERE to see how you can help.

Mettle

What’s better than combining gifting with doing good? Mettle’s lush, ethical gift packs will not only brighten someone’s day, but have been put together through a paid program that employs and trains women referred via partnering crisis shelters, helping them transition into the workforce or to further education, and assisting them in building financial security. They’re marking this year’s IWD with a fantastic giveaway with another fave of ours, The Lovers – check it and enter out below:

Ishar

Ishar provide a range of services to women, particularly those who are from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds. Celebrating their 29th year of operations later this year, over almost three decades they’ve provided services to approximately 4600 women from over 100 ethnicities. These services include preventative health checks (such as cervical screenings, blood pressure checks, breast checks and advice from an accredited dietician), alongside counselling, psychological services, pregnancy and perinatal support and much more. To send a donation their way or find out how to volunteer professional services, click HERE.

Mix Haus

We certainly love wining and dining, but we want to know that the staff are working in a supportive, safe environment. Mix Haus is the brainchild of three Perth hospo legends, who are working to create a network for support, education and professional development for womxn in hospitality. Check out their website HERE to find out more, and celebrate today with them at Ezra Pound with the launch of a new beer!
