With all the Instagram-scrolling and fast fashion in our faces, from time to time we like to take a moment to stop, breathe and consider our purchases.

Perth designer Shannon Malone (also one half of the excellent Hunter Bread) feels the same way, building her ethical fashion label on an ethos of sustainability, encouraging customers to buy less, but buy better.

Eschewing traditional seasonal trends, pieces are designed to be worn effortlessly, durable for years and made locally, with local materials.

Similarly, Luka Rey offers a curated collection of made-to-wear swimwear, created in her Fremantle studio utilising Italian recycled nylon.

The two designers are joining forces with much-loved South Fremantle boteco Madalena’s, transforming the newly-opened upstairs bar into a pop up trunk show for one day only: Saturday, September 10, from 10am to 12pm.

“Trunk Show presents timeless pieces to pack in your carry-on, no matter the mood or destination,” Malone told us. “This is what I’d pack if I booked a flight on a whim.”

At the pop up, you’ll be able to try styles on and preview unseen samples from future collections – plus there’ll be morning tea from Hunter Bread!
