While it’s fair to say much of Perth Is OK!’s existence is devoted to finding you the most fun and delicious things to do around town, we understand that every now and then a wintery weekend’s night calls for staying in. That doesn’t mean it has to be a boring one though!

We’ve teamed up with WA’s leading air conditioning experts, Ford & Doonan, to offer you a handy little guide on making the most of your next cosy winter date night at home (along with a couple of air con tips for the cooler months).

Bust Out The Board Games

Right, it’s time to put the phones away and dust out some old physical media – board games! If you haven’t done it for a while you might be surprised at how much fun you’ll have rediscovering old family faves, or being introduced to something brand new. If you’re a bit light on in the board games department, op shops can be an excellent resource for the classics like Scrabble, Jenga, Monopoly or the holy grail of engrossing board games – Settlers Of Catan!

Indoor Cinema

Dinner and a movie doesn’t always have to mean leaving the house! And you can create a far more cosy cinema-going experience on your lounge room wall with a projector. If you don’t have one that’s okay, obviously a lot of people have big enough TVs as it is, otherwise you can grab little mini projectors that will link up to your phone and do just as good a job!

A Romantic Dinner For Two

Speaking of dinner, staying in for the night is the perfect chance to flex your cooking muscle and show your significant other you’re more than just a pretty face. And wouldn’t you know it, we’ve even started sharing a few cosy winter recipes that’ll make you look like a sexy, superstar chef in no time.

Conquer Some Old Consoles

If you’re fortunate enough to have an old game console or two lying around it’s time to fire ‘em up and have a bit of fun. Nothing gets the heart racing like a little friendly Mario Kart competition, after all. You could even pair it up with a couple of glasses of red to make things really interesting.

Set The Temperature Just Right

When it comes to maximum comfort for all parties on date night, the aim of the game when setting your air conditioning unit to heat mode is finding the middle ground. When heating during winter it’s best to set your air con somewhere between 20°C and 23°C – the closer it is to the temperature outside, the more efficient your system will run. WiFi air conditioning controllers available from Ford & Doonan are also a great help in getting this done without leaving the comfort of your couch.

If you’re in the market for a new air conditioning unit or looking to upgrade, make it a Ford & Doonan day and hit their Website to explore your options.
