When Perth says we want to be known as the “city of light” we really go all in, don’t we?

From the constant drone light shows to Cathedral Square’s recent Affinity light program to the upcoming Lightscape at Kings Park, one could be forgiven for thinking we’re scared of the dark!

And today comes news of another light-filled, large-scale outdoor production called Fever Dream, from renowned Newcastle-based puppetry company Curious Legends.

Fever Dream Perth Curious Legends

Featuring giant illuminated puppets, Fever Dream descends upon Langley Park on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June with an interactive, immersive experience for all ages and free to enter!

The production traces the journey of a fever of stingrays with an enchanting lineup of puppet characters including a 10 metre-long stingray, five metre tall river spirit, community-made stringray puppets and more.

Both nights will feature a two-hour workshop from 4pm where community members can take part, before Curious Legends takeover as darkness begins to descend with a team of 20 artists.

“We initially created the puppets for FEVER DREAM to connect with stories from the Newcastle Worimi community in our Newcastle show, Gimbay Gatigaan,” said Curious Legends Artistic and Creative Director, Mitchell Reese.

“FEVER DREAM represents the next evolution of this story and offers an immersive outdoor experience that is fitting for the City of Light…

“We’re hugely excited to be bring a collection of talented Artists over to Western Australia where we will be joining forces with equally gifted Boorloo artists to bring our breathtaking production to life.”

Tickets are free, but registrations are essential through the Curious Legends website.
