An immersive new experience celebrating Australia’s wildlife and landscapes opens soon!
Perth has been getting its fill of immersive experiences in the past couple of years, from unique light shows to being surrounded by the works of famous artists, and next month a new one opens that’s a little more close to home.
Australian Geographic: Our Country 360° Cinematic Experience launches on December 1 at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, offering a brand new perspective on our country’s breathtaking wilderness.
Unsurprisingly, our ginormous corner of the country features plenty, including content from Kununurra, Hamersley, Broome, The Kimberley Plateau, Nullarbor Plains and Dryandra Woodland.
“Australia is home to more than one million species, plants and animals, and more than 80% of our plants and mammals are found nowhere else on earth,” said Australian Geographic Society Chair, David Haslingden.

“Our Country is an incredible opportunity for visitors to be swept away by Australia’s natural wonders and leave feeling inspired to explore their own backyards right here in Perth.”
The experience is comprised of the combined recordings of over 100,000 hours in the field by 25 cinematographers capturing Australia’s diverse array of unique landscapes, from lush rain forests to snowy peaks, red deserts and aquamarine seas, using drones and time lapse cameras.
The visual elements are a marvel unto themselves, using state-of-the-art technology, over 40 screens with 6K screen resolution and a powerful 360-degree surround soundscape.
Those soundscapes have been curated by Emmy award winner Karina Holden, and feature Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, sound designers and performers, with narration coming from Australian cinema icon, Jack Thompson.
Australian Geographic: Our Country 360° Cinematic Experience runs from December 1 until February 11, 2024, head to ourcountry360.com for more info and tickets.
