Popular Mosman Park outdoor cinema Camelot Outdoor Cinema’s 2023/24 season is in serious doubt thanks to some local noise complaints last summer.
The cinema is normally managed by Luna Palace Cinemas, who recently announced they won’t be returning to Camelot this summer, saying in a statement: “Due to the noise restrictions implemented in the area, we are unable to screen our films at a reasonable volume and deliver the quality viewing experience that our customers have come to expect and deserve.”
Town of Mosman Park Mayor Paul Shaw said in a statement yesterday, “The Town is devastated that a handful of complaints have compelled Luna to pull its 2023/24 outdoor cinema season out of Mosman Park.”
The noise restrictions came after several complaints were made by nearby residents late last year, forcing the State Government to enforce the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.
The town and Luna were working together over the year to try and find a solution, however Luna cited the substantial investment that “will require remodelling, testing, and time to carry out” as too significant too proceed, though they “sincerely hope” to find a workable solution for the 2024/25 season.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, with Perth International Jazz Fest (PIJF) taking over the lease at Memorial Hall (where Camelot is), and Town of Mosman Park hopeful of figuring out a solution with them.
“The great news is that we’re working closely with our new tenants – Perth International Jazz Festival – who understand how important and iconic outdoor cinema is to the local arts scene and our community,” Shaw said.
“Together, we will do all we can to revive the magic of outdoor movies in Mosman Park this summer.”
So we guess its watch this space for now…
