In news that will perhaps not surprise many of you, the Australian Tax Office (ATO) has revealed Australia’s richest postcodes, and a couple of Perth suburbs have come out very clearly on top.

The country’s most affluent people can be found in our own Cottesloe and Peppermint Grove (postcode 6011), with a huge average taxable income of $325,343 for its 6581 residents.

The statistics were compiled by the ATO from 2019-2020 tax returns, and represents are pretty shocking growth of over 80 per cent from 2018-2019 figures.

It also marks the first time an Australian postcode has passed $300,000 average taxable income.

The next highest average taxable income was $205,957 in the Sydney postcode 2027 (Darling Point, Edgecliff, HMAS Rushcutters and Point Piper).

Sydney postcodes dominated most of the top 10 list, with Melbourne the only other Australian city to factor with 3142 (Hawksburn and Toorak) coming in at 5 with an average taxable incoming of almost $185,000.
