Following a lengthy debate across two special meetings earlier this week, City of Wanneroo councillors have voted 7-7 to move forward with plans for an eco-tourism retreat on the Quinns Rocks beachfront.

The development, proposed by Buckland Estate operators Heritage WA Investments, will occupy the former Quinns Rocks Caravan Park site, which closed in 2012. Included within the proposal are a combination of “family” and “deluxe” fully-furnished glamping tents, café and event space.

Following community feedback the proposal was modified, removing an infinity reflection pool and moving the café and function space. The previous design can be seen in this fly-through supplied by the City of Wanneroo in December 2022 as part of the community feedback process:

The site is the last remaining foreshore reserve in the area, and local residents in opposition to the development raised concerns that it would limit community access to parkland and open activity spaces in the area, impact local businesses and limit the much-needed expansion of the Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club.
