Raise A Glass To Perth Festival With This Limited Edition Indian Ocean-Inspired Gin

With Perth Festival kicking off this week, we’ll be enjoying a cheeky drink or two around town as we hop from show to show. And what better to complement the Festival’s 2022 program than a drink that’s been lovingly handcrafted right here in WA?

Under Margaret River Distilling Company’s award-winning Giniversity label, the Indian Ocean Gin incorporates some uniquely West Australian ingredients – including salt bush and Geraldton wax, as well as drops of salty Gnarabup sea water, used alongside juniper, samphire, berries, sweet orange and butterfly pea.

Of course, you can’t miss the gin’s distinctive deep blue hue! Inspired by the Festival’s theme Wardan – which translates to “ocean” in Noongar – the drink mesmerisingly changes colour with the addition of citrus or tonic water.

The distillery’s founder, Cameron Syme has said of the gin: “The Indian Ocean shelters most of our magnificent West Australian coastline; it is part of who we are. We created this gin as a unique celebration of the festival, and of this great ocean and its spiritual significance to every West Australian.”

If you’d like to try the gin for yourself, it will be served at select Perth Festival 2022 venues – such as the State Theatre Centre of WA, His Majesty’s Theatre, the B Shed and more. You can also pick up a bottle from the distillery’s website or at their cellar doors in Margaret River and Albany.
